“First Impression is the Last Impression.”

This is a phrase we all have heard and believe in. When interacting with corporations, your first impression is made by your CV.

The full form of the word ‘CV’ is curriculum vitae which means “course of life.” There are various ways in which you can make your CV interesting and catch the interviewer’s eye. You should make it attractive in every way you can so that you stand out of the box.

Firstly, you should follow a basic format when making a CV and the one you think might attract the interviewer.

● Keep the font size 10-12, not too small or too big. Try to keep the font size consistent throughout otherwise your CV might look shabby.

● Use bold, caps, italics wherever required.

● Align your content to the Left to make it easy to skim.

● You can also consider using a professionally designed template.

● Make sure your contact information and name is on the top where it can be easy to find.

Things that should be included in your CV are:

● Include URLs to Social Media Profiles, your blogs, etc. You can add your LinkedIn profile link to your resume and also add your personal website if you have any so that they can get through them and get a clear overview of your skills and interests.

● Add Achievements To Your Experience Section-

Let them know what have you achieved till date and what you deserve so that they can assign you your role and this can have a good impression of you on them.

● Add your educational qualifications-

Add in your college/school from where you passed out, your percentage you scored and also if you’re pursuing anything in the present.

● Add onto your skills-

Whatever you’re good at and you feel that will attract the interviewer even more, add it and for sure he will then be interested to look after and talk to you. Especially add those skills which are very relevant to the job profile he/she is offering you, that is even more attractive.

● Be Specific about Your Work Experiences-

Yes, there is a right and wrong way to handle your work experience section.

When writing your past responsibilities or achievements, make sure to include:

1. Numbers and data. It’s more impactful to say “improved sales by 20%” than to simply say “improved sales.”

2. Timeframe. How long did it take you to get results?

3. Your actions. What did you do to make things happen?

● Include additional sections-

You can include sections like Languages, Hobbies & Interests, Volunteer Experience, Certificates & Awards, Practical Projects, Extracurriculars, and more.

●Use Active Voice Instead of Passive Voice-

When you use an active voice, you deliver a more impactful and clear message. A passive voice, on the other hand, downplays your accomplishments.

● Make a Compelling Cover Letter- Along with your CV, it should also contain a convincing cover letter. In this, you’ve to talk about how excited you are to work with the company, and how well you enjoy doing the work.

● You should rename your CV properly in a systematic manner and make sure there are no spelling mistakes and you’ve used formal English as much as you can.

Make sure to make the best impression of yourself with your first sentence itself. This will get the company interested in reading further carefully. So follow the tips and start working because making your CV perfect is one of the ways you can attract the company towards you.
