"Digital Marketing is not the art of selling a product. It is the art of making people buy the products you sell.”
Proving the above axiom quite true are today's top profit-making companies. Knowing what to sell and how to sell is of utmost importance in attracting the most lucrative target market. In addition, creating an omnipresent image in the minds of customers is equally significant.
With the aid of the various technical breakthroughs at marketers' disposal, all of this may be easily brought to reality.

Today, the use of the Internet is pertinent across all business activities globally, and marketing is no exception to that. As a result, digital marketing has become an inevitable tool in today's era. Promoting products or services via digital channels is what Digital Marketing is all about.
Speaking of our diverse land-India, we have experienced a boom in recent years in the use of digital platforms for food ordering, distance learning, shopping for clothes, groceries, and more. It was further accelerated due to the pandemic, which had everyone living in the virtual world. Thus, digital marketing is also undergoing rapid progress in the country.

According to a Goldman Sachs report, by 2025, the future scope of digital marketing in the Indian business world will be worth US$160 billion, more than trebling its current value. This estimate would prove to be true because we are all surrounded by various digital marketing campaigns in our day-to-day lives.
From Instagram to emails, marketers have a good hold over our digital sources, which helps them fulfill their objective of a bigger and better reach. We consume content almost every day. From our televisions to our mobile screens, content is everywhere. Psychologically, it has such a huge impact on our minds that we are infatuated by the product or service being marketed and usually end up buying the same. This could be out of an actual need or just a result of an impulse or a common feeling of FOMO— “others are buying it, so why shouldn't I?”
For marketers, all this works like a charm.

Let's have a look at one of the most successful digital marketing campaigns in recent times—Spotify's "There’s a Playlist for That" Campaign. To solve the problem of having to spend a lot of time finding the right song at the right time that fits the mood, Spotify curates’ mood-based personalized playlists. This campaign garnered about 74,800 shares on social media platforms and increased the number of downloads for the app by a significant percentage.

However, it is also true that using digital marketing can lead to conflicts of interest because people occasionally end up spending a lot of money on items they don't genuinely need. Moreover, it increases the exposure to technology over and above the existing time spent across networking platforms. Like every coin has two sides, digital marketing has its advantages and disadvantages.
Looking at the Indian diaspora, the benefits of digital marketing usually outweigh the drawbacks. In addition to the expansion of various markets, the other major benefit that digital marketing has provided is the opening of various avenues of employment. For a developing country like India, where the major proportion of the population lies between the ages of 20 and 40, employment opportunities play a huge role in the development of the country.
As a result, we have a better understanding of the scope of digital marketing in India and its growing appeal as a profession.

To conclude, I would like to quote Mr. Akshay Gurnani, Founder & CEO of Schbang—"In the coming years, digital media is going to take over traditional media. So, it's necessary to start your digital journey irrespective of your plans. Learn new techniques in digital media, such as content creation, websites, etc. This will help you further in your career.
